In the chorus section, the rapper throws out his emotions and how he feels about the legal embodiments of the USA that keep people inside of ‘The Box’ of legal slavery. This section gives an emphasis on the fact that people are willing to do anything it takes to keep themselves from being hungry.

Nothing is going to stop such people from earning money from every known illegal method. Then, they will do anything it takes to satisfy themselves in every way possible as long as their actions avoid prison-time, i.e. The Box. The essential belief that they have is money is power and money is everything. He feels this way except when he raps for his girl in the song ‘High Fashion’ in a very witty way.

[Verse 1]

Even though he has got a homeless background to his name, now he is up in a Cadillac driving around his town. The amount of wealth that he’s been able to accumulate from his record label and his rap career has helped him live the upper-class lifestyle without having to experience what it feels like to live the middle-class lifestyle. Now, as long as he isn’t provoked back to living street life, Roddy Ricch knows he won’t be confined in the box!

Since he’s got too much to lose on his side, he is determined to work harder and smarter so that he won’t fall back to being homeless again. Having no money comes with the risk of going back to the box, i.e. the jail. With money comes a tremendous amount of time to have fun with whoever he likes. This is exactly what the rapper is doing here, flexing his time and his ability to do anything he wants to do.

[Verse 2]

In the second verse of ‘The Box,’ the rapper goes out of his ways to represent where he’s come from. Even though he’s got the money, he hasn’t been able to change the mindset that he had when he was homeless. He still likes to have fun with the girls inside the forest and well it doesn’t look so good to his current lifestyle.

However, at this point in his life, he realizes that he’s got a higher purpose to serve in his life and he shouldn’t stay inside the box of small dreams. He believes he is fit as the 2020 presidential candidate. The rapper is determined to have ambitions even though they are unrealistic in order to stay out of the box of a sleezy mentality.

I’m baffled that the analysts on this site was able to deduce meaning from this song. I admit the video is extremely well done, however these words are grossly incoherent. The interpretation of such deeply exogenous description& depictions must have been largely helped from the visual artistry. I do not see how such insight come solely from the rhymes. Video 5 outta 5 lyrics -1 outta 5 for me.
