“Realest,” written by Ez Mil, Eminem & Luis Resto, is a song released on the 4th of August, 2023. It is a debut collaboration between Ez Mil and Eminem after Ez Mil signed a massive deal with Eminem’s Shady Records and Dr. Dre’s Aftermath and Interscope Records in July 2023. The meaning of “Realest” lyrics by Ez Mil & Eminem is a bridge to confront critics from both new & old generations in the context of hip-hop. Also, the song talks about the struggles of both artists as well as the lead for Ez Mil to be working under Eminem’s guidance. It understates the idea of imitation and how imitating others is the surest way to fail in the hip-hop industry.

Ez Mil & Eminem, Realest: the Lyrics & Their Meaning

“Realest” lyrics begin with the setting of Ez Mil in the Philippines while drawing parallels with great thinkers like Malcolm X and Martin Luther King. As he looks up to these iconic people, he claims that he cannot go unnoticed. He definitely doesn’t want to end up with most one-hit-wonder rappers as we have seen evolving as well as dying over the years.

In the first verse, Ez Mil is confident and puts his wishes and desires straightforwardly. He is open about his likes as well as his dislikes. “I’m on whatever you on, I ain’t gon’ talk on the phone” and “Buddy, I do it alone” tell us that he refuses to conform and compromise on what he wants. His verse shows his willingness to stand on his own feet with his own hard work and perseverance. As the verse progresses, he takes a violent approach as he talks about wanting to break into someone’s house for the sake of confrontation. He mentions Kid Cudi as well citing his suggestion to Ez Mil in the music industry.

Then, as the first verse continues, Ez Mil gets aware of his violent thoughts and he tries to tame himself. “blick at his dome” means to target an opponent’s head with the motive of homicide. He is aware that people who are envious of him want him violent because violence never correlates to peace of mind. Therefore, when the mind is chaotic, the chances of making it big in an industry go away. Ez Mil is aware of this as he has been incarcerated before. “spat back out” means experiencing a series of hardships in life and learning from these hardships so that a mistake is not repeated.

The chorus of the song repeats two lines in total. Here, “I’m the realest in the business, and everybody gon’ be envious of my beginnings” means he is alluding to the authenticity in his work and the people envious of the success which comes out of his strong trait, i.e. authenticity itself. “Got a circus for the sinners with bodies, so stop tryna be another addition” means he is surrounded by evil people who wish to use his music for their benefit in the music industry and he doesn’t want to fit in so that his career shall be dictated by someone in power and influence in the music industry.

In his second verse, Ez Mil opens up about his past trauma and despite his bad days, he wakes up excited for another day in his life. “Minus a nine from ten, Eminem’s spot still sits” means Eminem is still the number 1 rapper in the whole world, as ten minus nine equals one. Then, Ez Mil shares the violent side of his life. He talks about mobbing someone at gunpoint and partying, enjoying his life to the fullest. The rapper mentions B-Rabbit, which is the character played by Eminem in 8 Mile, and calls him the G.O.A.T., Greatest of All Time. He mentions PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, while he raps the shooting sound “duka-duka-doo.”

In the third verse of “Realest” lyrics, Eminem talks about the prejudices he faces on a daily basis in the hip-hop industry because of his skin color. The hip-hop industry has given Eminem everything he has ever wanted. So, he doesn’t have much to complain about. But many critics wrongfully label him one of the top artists, not because of his talent but because of his skin color. With this, he says he is not at the number one spot because of his skin color, white. He says he can win every one if he is put together with all the top rappers around him.

As his verse continues, Eminem is surprised that people in Dubai buy his music as well. He mentions how even his psychiatrists couldn’t change what lies inside his mind and with “soap” he implies how he can wash anybody with his talent in the rap game. Eminem talks about his childhood growing up and reflects on the challenges he had to face back then. Then, the rapper disses Gen Z music critics who claim to know more about hip-hop than Eminem himself. But in his outro, he shows some love to Gen Z by saying “I’m just playin’, Gen Z, you know I love you.”

These are the lyrics of Ez Mil & Eminem’s “Realest” via Genius:

Realest Lyrics

[Intro: Kito Abashi, We Vybz Tv, Ez Mil]
If I was in the Philippines, he’ll be like my muhf…in’ Malcolm X, my Martin Luther King because
He’s too fire to go unnoticed
There’s no way I’m just gonna cross ’em off like he’s just some any rapper, like a one-hit wonder (Yeah)

[Verse 1: Ez Mil]
I’m on whatever you on, I ain’t gon’ talk on the phone (Haha)
Keep that same energy f…in’ with enemies
It’s gettin’ temptin’ to run in your home, huh, huh (Who did that?)
Buddy, I do it alone, Cudi said word to my homes
Don’t just go hit ’em ’cause I gotta drive
You focus on aimin’ that blick at his dome, no cap
You motherf…ers be lucky as f… that ain’t nobody envious of you enough
Take it from me like a brother who dug off the mud on his head but done ended up cuffed
Then he just gets spat back out again into a world where you double what he did
‘Cause he learned give it up or get f…ed in turn, homie

[Chorus: Ez Mil]
I’m the realest in the business and everybody gon’ be envious of my beginnings
Got a circus for the sinners with bodies, so stop tryna be another addition
‘Cause I’m the realest in the business and everybody gon’ be envious of my beginnings
Got a circus for the sinners with bodies, so stop tryna be another addition

[Verse 2: Ez Mil]
I done got hit on the head, barely survived that s… (Okay)
Minus a nine from ten, Eminem’s spot still sits
But f… a position, I’m tunin’ him in
Let all you rock out with it, I ain’t ever gonna be an opt-out mission
Get the Glock out with it, get to poppin’, dip out and smoke
With the homies we mobbin’, while I’m cleanin’ the stash of my calibers
Some of them might got ya’ name on ’em
Wanna brag about s… that could happen
I am the reason that they got a chain on ’em
When I rap, they consider me a Gatling
Fillin’ up mags, I’m finna go clapping
Get in that bag with the G.O.A.T, B-Rabbit, I know they hate this flow
I’m in the mode to get to killin’ again with the best stick in your dome
You’re never gettin’ a penny or less, stealin’ the flows
And I’ma spit it again as a test, sick of these h…
They get to b…in’, the bigger the breasts, nevertheless I’ma get it
Enter with that trigger, never better
Instead of settin’ the bet up, I let up with the Beretta
Make it “duka-duka-doo” on you b…es in front of PETA
‘Cause I’m kinda gettin’ fed up always leavin’ y’all wet up like

[Chorus: Ez Mil]
I’m the realest in the business and everybody gon’ be envious of my beginnings
Got a circus for the sinners with bodies, so stop tryna be another addition
‘Cause I’m the realest in the business and everybody gon’ be envious of my beginnings
Got a circus for the sinners with bodies, so stop tryna be another addition

[Verse 3: Eminem]
Guess I’ve really no right to complain much hip hop has been good to me huh
But when they say that I’m only top five ’cause I’m white why would I be stunned
My skin color’s still working against me (What) ’cause second I should be to none
Being white ain’t why they put me at five (Nope) it’s why they can’t put me at one (Whoot)
They’re comin’ with more venom so the haters I’m aimin’ it towards them and
All the envious rappers I’d torch if I’m on a joint with ’em
And that is the only retort is I’m not played in the clubs motherf…er put a cork in it
Only reason they still play your s… in the clubs (Why?) is ’cause you still perform in ’em (Haha)
I am a guest in this house but I turned this b… to a mansion
That’s an expansion made it gargantuan England Germany France and Japan’s in this b…
Even Dubai because my music they do buy
You die tryin’ this scientists two psy
chiatrists could not un-screw my head up the blue eyed devil I never quit do I
Naw cause you know you’ll get washed like a bar of soap you pussy you wouldn’t give a cigar to smoke
And I know it eats at your heart like an artichoke because you know that’s how likely you are to choke
Your heart is broke as I rip you apart I go bananas precede to spit every bar I wrote
I was spittin’ before my mother’s water broke it’s not even close you b… I’m by far the goat
Gen Zers actin’ like rap experts zip up your gaps and close your mouths
B… you ain’t been on this planet long enough to tell me how rap’s supposed to sound
Ya’ll need to stick to what you do best shootin’ schools up yeah go load up rounds
In your parents’ gats and go to class and let off with the strap and go to town
Shout to the Furious Five and Grandmaster Flash but boy (What up doe)
There’s someone who really is furious stay out his path his wrath avoid
And I’ll be the last to toy with a juice head whose brain is like half destroyed
Like a meteor hit it well there went Melle Mel we lost his a… to roids (D…)
God was like “I got him” but I’m gonna start him at the bottom of the barrel brought him in the world
With a ma that was on valium and his father was a coward taught him as a child when no f…ing body was around
How to get himself up and out of poverty and now not even a growl in his stomach gotta be a hound
‘Til they put your body in the ground probably gonna sound like a cliché but when haters try to beat you down
Say f… ’em

[Chorus: Ez Mil]
‘Cause I’m the realest in the business and everybody gon’ be envious of my beginnings
Got a circus for the sinners with bodies, so stop tryna be another addition
‘Cause I’m the realest in the business and everybody gon’ be envious of my beginnings
Got a circus for the sinners with bodies, so stop tryna be another addition

[Outro: Eminem]
I’m just playin’, Gen Z, you know I love you
