Life Is Good Lyrics Meaning

Let’s learn the meaning behind the lyrics of ‘Life Is Good’ by Future with Drake section-wise.

Part I

[Chorus: Drake]

Drake and Future don’t share the same chorus in the song. In his chorus, Drake refers to his busy working hours. He is an entrepreneur who is willing to work all day and night to avoid going for a normal day job. Drake is the type of guy who doesn’t have any control over his money and yet he is rich. The rapper doesn’t know the amount of taxes he needs to file for since he’s got a personal accountant for that. Then, he refers to his story of having an unannounced baby and basically says “it happened, so what?”

[Verse: Drake]

Drake has been at the top of the music industry for long and many speculations have been made predicting his fall. However, the rapper claims that he keeps coming back and he keeps outperforming the records he had set for himself previously. Despite the public support and international fame, the rapper seems to have a poor personal life. Drake’s romantic interest hasn’t been replying back to him and he seems frustrated because of it.

To order wine by the glass is affordable when compared with the purchase of a whole bottle. This is something Drake has no difficulty in doing for someone he is seeking to have fun with. Therefore, he deems a man that just purchases his romantic interest a glass of wine to be prudent and ordinary. Further in his lyrics, Drake talks about his relationship with Future’s crew and record label FWG. He says he has never turned his back on FWG and hopes that such a day won’t ever come in future.

[Interlude: Future]

Future adds to Drake’s sentimental verse and chorus by saying “it’s all good, we’ve got red bottoms”. Even though we believe materialism can’t help us attain anything, 7 rings by Ariana Grande has definitely helped us understand the emotional and psychological pain that goes along with materialism.

Part II

[Chorus: Future]

As the rappers get wealthier, they need to maintain a certain wealth standard. The cheapest ring that Future owns is worth $100,000 for his smallest finger. Such people travel across the world, live in expensive places, and own a ton of luxury cars. For fun, they get themselves involved in illicit d***s and get high all the time. They can’t really differentiate what’s normal and what’s an influence but the only thing that they seem to know is they’re too rich.

[Verse 1: Future]

Future compares himself to the terrorist group ‘Ta***an’ and wishes for destruction around him. However, further reading his lyrics, I’m getting clueless as to what is he talking about. First of all, he references his grandmother who he apparently used to play with when he was a kid. But now, he is not that kid anymore. He is a businessman making a ton of money from the music industry. Future talks about having fun across the world and shows his gratefulness towards life. He says to himself “we’re poor high-class people”, referencing his humble background and current lavish lifestyle, both at the same time.

[Verse 2: Future]

In his second verse, Future takes a reference of Serena Williams, a tennis player. Instead of tennis rackets of Williams, Future has racks of money by a lot, where one rack equals at least one thousand dollars. Whenever he feels unproductive, he goes to the studio and rehearses his verses over and over. This is how he’s been able to make racks and racks of money for himself. Then, during his breaks, the rapper likes to collect Birkins.

Conclusion: Life Is Good Meaning

In the song, Drake is trying to be as emotional as he can get. While on the other hand, Future is trying to convince him that everything is alright and Life Is Good!
