Following the years of hardships and failure, Lana Del Rey has become a common name for the heartbroken people.
The singer’s unique slow and moody sound has set up a unique stature for herself. Lana’s sound is established and so unique that one can know it’s a Lana song after immersing oneself for at least 10 seconds into the song. Summertime Sadness explores the atmosphere of a bittersweet summertime where Lana danced, cruised and felt electrified with her significant other. The music video of the song has creepy monochromatic visuals. A lot of Gothic symbolisms have been highlighted in the music video.
Towards the end of the music video, Lana Del Rey depicts suicidal tendencies in the film. The music video is either aesthetically pleasing or creepy for the listeners.

09. Shades of Cool
Lana Del Rey brings listeners into her lover’s world of blue in Shades of Cool. She expresses a strong sense of lament and pain, as well as a powerful desire to understand and fix his flaws.
“Shades of Cool” is characterized as a slow/mid-tempo “waltzy” rock song. As the song progresses, it builds to a thundering bridge dominated by an electric guitar intertwined with Del Rey’s passionate vocals.
It was as a promotional single for Lana’s third album Ultraviolence.
The title track from Lana Del Rey’s fifth studio album, “Lust For Life” captures the essence of both Lana and Abel’s will to live. At the end of the video, both Abel, aka The Weeknd, and Lana Del Rey jump off the Hollywood sign. The singers have repeatedly thrown the idea of “dying young” in their songs and this might be their one of the first virtual attempts.
The moments when the two are doing what they love, with whom they love, remind them that life is worthwhile. The song provides the message of one should create his/her own fate and not everyone is worth your time.

High By The Beach is about escaping and seeking comfort by the seaside on the west coast. The music video emulates Lana’s frustration with media inconsistency and untrustworthiness. Ever since Lana has been on the spotlight, many paparazzi have stalked her to a point where she just doesn’t care anymore.
Lana Del Rey is expressing a need for solitude and protecting herself from the outside world. She told The Current that the music video’s theme “glamorized paranoia” as she ultimately shot down the paparazzi helicopter outside of her beachfront home. In the music video, she literally shoots the helicopter down and breathes the air of victory over the infringement of her privacy.
Everyone needs their time all alone without attention. Paparrazi should learn that celebrities have personal lives as well.
06. Blue Jeans
“Blue Jeans” is about an ex-boyfriend whom Lana compares to James Dean. The relationship started off well, but soon “the bad boy” up and left. Eventually, he became caught up in chasing money and selling drugs, leaving her in the dust. But all in all, she refuses to let him forget that she will always love him.
Lana cries over her ex-boyfriend. Clearly, she hasn’t been able to move on from her relationship with this “bad boy”. In the chorus of the song, Lana relates to every broken hearts around the world and says even though they aren’t in a relationship, she will always love him. Above all, the song sounds a little toxic, don’t you think?
The song ‘Young and Beautiful’ is taken from the soundtrack for the 2013 film version of The Great Gatsby. The Great Gatsby’s main female character, Daisy, portrays narcissistic tendencies, caring for nothing more than herself. Realizing that her worth correlates with her beauty, Daisy doesn’t want a man who will no longer love her after she begins to age and her good looks deteriorate.
The song shows the most insecure side of all the beautiful girls around the world. They are always in confusion if their relationship is based on their faces or their hearts. In the novel, Daisy’s husband is embroiled in an affair with his mistress, and she takes up Gatsby, who reminds her of her youthful past.
04. Video Games
This is where the reign of Lana Del Rey began. Released on October 7, 2011, Lana Del Rey became an overnight sensation over the internet. Video Games is the first single off of Lana Del Rey’s massive commercial success, Born to Die.
The lyrics to this song are about two broken relationships in the singer’s past. “The verse was about the way things were with one person, and the chorus was the way I wished things had really been with another person, who I thought about for a long time,” Del Rey said.

03. Born to Die
The song ‘Born to Die’ is an opening track of Lana Del Rey’s wildly successful debut album, Born to Die. In [Lana’s] melancholic world, to love is to live, so to love the wrong person is to be “born to die.”
The music video of this song is colorfully aesthetic, which you tend to find less in Lana Del Rey music videos. However, this sweet cheerful blast suddenly takes another turn and we go back to typical Lana Del Rey world.
The song ‘Ride’ is from my favorite Lana Del Rey EP, i.e. Paradise EP. Lana asks for zero judgments, as she knows she that she’s had a hard life and she has plenty of scars. Lana wants a companionship in her life. She desperately wants to feel happy from the inside.
Her attempts to put on a front that she is a free spirit is not working. Every time she falls in love with a man. She forces them to feel the emotional void inside of her. Lana needs someone to love, despite the fact, her heart has been broken many times.
Love is the best Lana Del Rey song for me because this is the only song where she genuinely expresses happiness. She muses on how this generation’s youth maintain a sense of wonder and empowerment in the face of adversity, due in part to the romanticized idea of love driving them forward.
This alternative/indie rock track also touches upon the concept of loving others, as well as loving oneself. Gone are the self-destructive behaviors involving endless sex, drugs, and alcohol, which would offer her fun and pleasure that lasted until her next dose. While comparing herself to today’s young kids, she is reminiscing her past and the way she has grown up.
